How I further my studies in UiTM?

I started to write this post in the first semester of my studies and only to complete writing when I completed my studies lol 

It's going to be a long journey (I'll try not to) but bear with me, so let's start

Honestly, I further my studies for two reasons; my mum wishes and jobless. I was jobless for quite a few months so I decided that I shouldn't waste more of my time doing absolutely nothing, waiting for the job offer to come. Hold on. Come to think of it, I didn't really wait until I finishes my degree studies. During my internship, I have already applied for master's degree studies. I consulted with a few of my lecturers about the courses that I should pursue in my next level studies. 

    As I was in the Information Management major, I imagined myself furthering in the Masters of Science in Information Management. However, after a few thoughts and suggestion, I decided that I should instead go for the Masters of Science in Knowledge Management. What is knowledge management (KM) exactly? I did learnt about KM during my last semester of degree so I found it not really culture shocking plus it is indeed a very interesting major to get into.

    (I am briefly explaining what KM is, can skip if you want)

    Knowledge Management is basically how to manage the knowledge from an organization. Not sure if many notices, but knowledge is literally everywhere and from whatever sources/forms that we can get. Google suggested that "knowledge management is important because it boosts the efficiency of an organization's decision-making ability. In making sure that all employees have access to the overall expertise held within the organization, a smarter workforce is built who are more able to make quick, informed decisions that benefit the company." (Source: Valamis) For example, there is one employee who has been working for the company for almost a decade, thus, making him/her knowledge and experiences throughout working with the company as some sort of asset. He/She decided to retire in few months so what the company can do in order for the other employees to still can retrieve the person's knowledge when he/she is not around anymore? I'm just giving the idea of what KM is so can try Google for more information.

Ok back to the story.

So what are the process to furthering studies in UiTM? First, you can check https://ipsis.uitm.edu.my/ for the courses that are available UiTM for postgraduate studies and other details such as subjects, admission fees and semesters. Application can be made online.

There are two mode of studies; Coursework studies (which will open twice a year) and Research Mode (apply anytime). I applied for coursework studies because I love studying in class environment. You can also choose for Part Time studies or Full Time studies. The difference is that Full Time will only have 3 semesters (1.5 years) while Part Time will have 4 semesters (2 years). For Research Mode, you will be required to submit your research proposal. 

Buy the BSN pin first before you can complete the form. The pin costs is RM50 (if I'm not mistaken). Then, complete the online form, as well as the Referee Information. I chose two of my lecturers as my referee. I was needed to post those forms physically. 

Later on, you can check online from the IPSIS website if your application has been approved and they will also provide your offer letter as well as all the documents needed during the registration. 

During my time, I had to go to the DATC of UiTM Shah Alam for the registration session. Me and my friends were the second intake so we registered when the first semester has begun (only Week 1 lol). I didn't really remember what was needed but medical check up was required and also X-Ray test. I brought mine but if you don't have one, I supposed it's still okay because I left mine in the car and didn't submit to them lol 

So, during the registration, you can wear something casual and smart because you will also take picture for your student ID matric card there. Best to groom a little bit hehe 

There were few stations where you will submit certain forms. It seems very smooth and systematic to me so kudos to UiTM staff. The whole registration thingy last for like 2-3 hours (I think). After that, we went to eat nasi kerabu. 

I came from Seremban while my friend from Kuala Pilah. She drove me to class every Saturday. I was too scared to drive so bless her soul for driving me through my whole Master's Degree journey. 

We decided to just not rent at Shah Alam as we were both working part time plus the class will only be once a week which is on Saturday, THE WHOLE DAY. From 8am to 6pm. 4 class straight. Exhausting, truly. But I bet the lecturers are more exhausted as they have to work 6 (or maybe 7) days a week. Crazy.

Braces (2016 - 2018)

Okay since today marks the 6th months of me taking off my braces (also few months of wearing retainers), harini nak cerita sikit pasal pengalaman aku pakai braces. 

Masuk bulan feb 2017 ni dah almost 5 bulan aku pakai braces. (Nampak tak dah berapa lama post ni dalam draft? Aku asyik lupa nak update.) Cam tak berapa nak pengalaman sangat but takpelah, nak cerita masa awal-awal process nya.

Awalnya aku memang tak terfikir pun nak pakai braces ni. Hakikatnya memanglah gigi bawah aku ni tak berapa nak teratur sangat but aku rasa biasa je and tak kisah sangat. Tapi ayah aku lah yang beriya nak suruh aku pakai braces ni, sampai gigih cari dentist yang boleh buat braces without booking or any waiting lists. Since aku duduk Seremban, so cari area Senawang je sebab orang kata area Senawang ni still murah lagi if nak pasang braces. 

Ada lah juga a few clinics yang kena tunggu waiting list yang panjang lebar and berkemungkinan lagi 4-5 bulan lagi baru turn aku. Memang tak dapat lah cerita dia. Pastu cari punya cari, terjumpa satu clinic ni, namanya Klink Pergigian Shaida. Kat Senawang juga, area depan Giant tu. Disebabkan aku tak pernah pergi so cam ada lah takut sikit. Masa masuk tanya pasal pemasangan braces, diorang kata memang boleh buat terus, no waiting list at all (the price is agak mahal but to me its normal lah), parents aku pun apa lagi, proceed terus lah.

Plan nak buat masa cuti semester yang sebulan tu, and diorg pun kata boleh je if nak selesaikan semua in less than a month. Mula-mula check tu, diorang tengok-tengok gigi and then buat clay untuk tengok kedudukan gigi dalam mulut. Clay tu ada bau wangi and warna pink tapi tak edible ye guys so pls no swallowing. 

Oh ya lupa pulak, before all that, the dentist will suruh us to go do x-ray scanning untuk gigi, bukan badan ye kawan kawan. That would cost almost RM 200. Aku buat kat satu dental surgery clinic in the middle of Seremban Town. Tak ingat nama sorry gais but klinik cina as far as I can remember. 

Pastu baru proceed with the tanah liat thing. The purpose was to see the real arrangement of the teeth and survey which tooth yang nak kena cabut. Setelah sepurnama berlalu, dentist tu akan buat appointment untuk cabut gigi. This is to make way for the gigi yang tak straight tu to have more spaces so that boleh jadi one perfect line of teeth. Aku kena cabut 2 batang gigi bawah tapi doktor tu cabut kat bahagian belakang belakang sikit so bila kau senyum tu takdelah nampak rongak and macam orang takde gigi kan?

Since aku kena cabut 2 batang gigi, doktor suggest untuk cabut lain lain hari but in one week time. Contoh Isnin cabut sebatang, Khamis cabut lagi sebatang. After around 2 weeks camtu, baru ada appointment untuk pasang braces pulak. Time pasang ni kena bayar around RM1k juga awal awal but it depends on every dental clinic. And then baru bayar bulan-bulan time datang appointment. Aku punya klinik tak kisah bayar berapa so aku bayar RM100 - RM200. But really, its up to you. Ada clinic yang dah ada fixed amount berapa kena bayar bulan-bulan sebab nak habis bayar kan the rest of the amount.


Awal-awal pakai tu normally akan rasa pelik juga sebab ada besi dalam mulut and there is a high chances of getting ulser most of the time so dentist tu akan provide wax untuk cover besi yang kena ulser tu sebab sakit woi. Terkena sikit pun dah sakit, ni kan pulak besi braces tu ada betul-betul kat tempat ulser. Almost 2 weeks juga aku makan bubur mcd je (sumpah tak exaggerate) so kurus beb.


Lepas dah selesa tu okay je. Rasa biasa je cuma time makan tu ada makanan melekat kat celah braces tu haha nanti guna jelah brush khas untuk braces. Cari je kat pharmacy semua ada. Tapi brush yang normal tu jangan lupa guna pulak, cuma kena tukar jadi soft lah.

Actually the last 2 paragraph tu aku sambung type after a year lol it's already 2019 now and I took off my braces back in August 2018. Aku pakai for only like 1 years lebih sikit. Tak sampai 2 tahun pun sebab gigi behave and tak pernah missed any appointment. Btw, my clinic ni kalau nak appointment braces boleh datang je anytime and since I was still studying, pergi bila balik seremban je. Tengah type balik ni rasa rindu pulak nak pakai braces sebab sekarang tengah pakai retainer (post-braces) thing.

Retainer ni apa?
You wear retainer after cabut braces. Ada dua jenis, permanent and boleh cabut. Permanet is more pricey than the boleh cabut one. Aku punya yang boleh cabut. Atas bawah total RM600. Tujuan pakai retainer ni supaya gigi tu tak gerak lepas cabut and stay the way it is. I have a friend yang malas nak pakai retainer, ended up dia kena pakai braces balik sebab gigi dah jarak balik.

Contoh retainer:

Leceh juga pakai retainer ni sebab dia macam gigi palsu cuma gigi palsu kena cabut time tidur, but retainer ni time tidur kena pakai. Kalau nak makan kena cabut retainer sebab dia cover gusi and lelangit mulut so memang takleh kunyah. Basically dia memang macam gigi palsu except depan tu bukan gigi but sebaris besi.

If you jenis malas nak buat semua ni sebab remeh, you can just go for the permanent retainer, in which dia akan tanam behind your gigi. Pakai retainer ni akan buat korang jadi pelat tau hahaha aku selalu kena ejek sebab cakap tak betul bila pakai retainer.
